EGStoltzfus Design Remodel Plan
VOLUME 2  •  ISSUE 5
May 2011

We are nearing an exciting time in EGStoltzfus history; in less than a month, Home-A-Rama 2011 will kick off in Cumberland County. It has been 10 years since the last Home-A-Rama in the Harrisburg area, and we are excited to be a part of this momentous event.

What is a Home-A-Rama?Great question (and I am glad you asked)!

The Home-A-Rama is similar to a Parade of Homes - where a number of new homes are open to the public for touring during set dates and times, but this event is even more spectacular because it is in ONE location! You have one beautiful site to tour seven magnificent, custom homes - and EGStoltzfus Homes is proud and honored to be a part of that exclusive list of builders!

The Home-A-Rama takes place June 11-26 in the Winding Hills Development, Mechanicsburg. Details can be found here.

So take your camera and your "home ideas" notebook, and press play on your phone's video recorder - then walk away with some fabulous ideas to incorporate into your new home design or next remodeling project. I can't wait to hear what inspiration you take away with you from your tour.

All the best,

Bill Patrick, Senior Designer/Division Manager Residential Remodeling

Concept to Completion Series

In each issue of this newsletter, we will briefly review one of the stages every one-of-a-kind project must flow through in order to reach successful completion.

Previously discussed steps can be found here:

Step 1: Begin with a concept.

Step 2: Seeing the end at the beginning.

Step 3: Finalizing the design by making selections.

Step 4: Reaching Agreement.

Step 5: Job Start Up.

Step 6: Consistent Communication.

Step 7: Job Close Out & Pre-Warranty Walk Through

In last month's newsletter, we talked about the pre-construction meeting to review project documents with you and to establish a means of how best to stay in good communication with you - so you always understand where your project is.

In this step, we are nearing the end of your remodeling project. However, before you can start entertaining in your newly designed space, there are a few more steps we need to take before we close out the job.

During the final stages of any remodeling project, it is imperative to us, as the contractor, that the last few pieces don't get "hung up" and delay the entire project. For us, the closing days on the jobsite, where we are making touch-ups and pulling the entire room together, are just as important as the first day of construction.

With this in mind, we've built a "Pre-Warranty Walk-Through" step into our process. This is exactly as it sounds. We walk through the project, noting anything that needs fixed, completed or our attention before we consider your project complete. You, as the homeowner, receive a copy of our list for your inspection, and together we review it. Once those listed items are completed, we consider the project done!

Our final article in the Concept to Completion Series will be published next month.

Step 8: Warranty Program.

Tile Past the Point of No Return ...

Even the most durable tiles need a little TLC from time to time. Floor tiles, especially those in high-traffic areas, collect dirt and soil and need to be cleaned more frequently than other areas of their home. Bath tiles can become discolored with mold and mildew stains, if not cleaned regularly. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions for cleaning.

In addition to cleaning, if you have tile that frequently gets wet, you should also inspect your tile joints two times a year and re-caulk and/or re-grout as needed. By making these minor repairs, you will keep your tile looking attractive and avoid an extremely costly project of pulling and replacing all the tiles down the road.
